Work Readiness Skills In My Internship
My communication skills are my strongest work readiness skill that I possess. I've used it in many ways and have learned from either a mistake or not through communicating a lot. In general I spend a lot of time talking with my supervisor and getting to know both him, and his assistant. It's proved to help my time there be much more interesting and they work harder to give me good tasks. It's also been positive because it's taught me how much or how little to speak. There have been times when I try to help figure something out but after trying more than once I've realized that they do their job better than I do so there are times when my ideas are many steps behind theirs and I should just keep my mouth shut.
My work readiness skill that I put down as a weakness is diligence. There are times when I don't take pride in work that I don't find interesting. This has made me work harder when scanning in papers to Gilmore and Romines data base. I have to scan the paper in then count every paper to make sure they were all put in correctly. While it would be easy to just say I scanned them and move on, I always make sure that every paper is there. It's also pushed me to stay focused and make sure I'm marking everything I'm working on correctly and not making sloppy errors.

It sounds like you're really starting to fit in at your internship. Learning to ask questions when needed and building strong relationships with coworkers are excellent skills to have!
ReplyDeleteI relate to having my ideas steps behind my supervisors. I think that it's all just part of the learning process. So keep at it. It already seems like you are having fun and pushing yourself towards a great future.
