Hi everybody,

I’m interested in going to college and majoring in international business. Some of the jobs for this degree are:

1.    Market Researcher
2.   Management Analyst
3.  International Sales Representative

1. Market Researcher:

Average wage before taxes - $60,300

Geographic differences – Market researchers in software make the most money, and so researchers in San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland, and Seattle earn the highest salaries for their field.

Minimum education – Bachelor’s degree

Personality type – Market researches must be able to work alone on work, but contribute towards a team goal. They must be attentive to details, think critically, and be able to consult with others. Market researchers must also be able to communicate very effectively through presentations.

2. Management Analyst

Average wage before taxes - $78,600

Geographic differences – Management analysts generally make the most money in metropolitan areas. The best paying cities for this profession are:
1. Taunton, Massachusetts
2.  Naples, Florida
3.  Santa Cruz, California
4. Framingham, Massachusetts
5.  Bellingham, Washington

Minimum education – Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree preferred. (Experience usually required)

Personality type – Business analysts must be great and effective communicators. They must be very literate and pay close attention to details. Business analysts must be very conscientious. Business analysts must be very good listeners and very logical as well. Business analysts must be detail oriented and able to pick out important information out of written work.

3. International Sales Representative

Average wage before taxes - $67,985

Geographic differences – International sales representatives typically make the most money in urban areas along the coasts that trade internationally, places like San Francisco, CA and New York City, NY.

Minimum education – Associate’s degree and foreign language skills

Personality type – International sales representatives are salesmen, so they must be effective communicators and very convincing. They must be outgoing but modest at the same time. Salesmen must be conscientious about their work and not be self-conscious and afraid of rejection. International sales representatives must also be very knowledgeable and informed.
