I'm grateful that I got to do some tasks at my internship that were interesting and meaningful. When I first started, I came in a little cynical. I expected to be doing a lot of copying, filing, etc. While I did do some of this, it was a pleasant surprise to be handed a project on my first day that seemed pretty important. I had to go through a huge case file (I work at a law office), and gain an understanding of the case I would be involved with. It was cool because as I was going through the file, my supervisor would come in and talk with me about what I thought about the case. This made me feel like what I thought about it was actually relevant and really motivated me to work hard on the next project I received. I am really grateful to my supervisor for that because I found that the more I got involved in the case, the more interesting it became. My summer would have definitely been a lot more boring if I hadn't done this internship.
I am also grateful for having access to the MCOE class because I think I learned a lot in it. All of those tests I took on the waybook really taught me a lot about myself and my strengths and weaknesses. I remember on one of the tests it listed some of my lowest personality traits. Some of the traits that I thought were most important were in the bottom so over the next few weeks I really went out of my way to emphasize those traits as much as possible. I think now, after that, I can say that can say that those traits are higher on he list. I'm grateful that the class alerted me that I wasn't traits I value so highly, so I could change that.
Welll, see you all....
Wow that's really awesome you actually got to look through a case file! That's what's so great about this summer program that we've all been given opportunities like this. I wish I could have had a similar experience of being more involved however my particular internship didn't really offer that but I'm glad to hear your's did!
ReplyDeleteI also started out a bit cynical and am now thankful for all of the opportunities I was given!
