Blog # 5

I am extremely grateful for all of the incredible experiences I have had this summer. I am very thankful to be taking a class that offers practical application to later in life. Most, if not all of the information I learned at the Summer Career Academy, I will use in my work and living efforts. These include how to be professional, managing a budget, and how to best present myself for an employer.

The Waybook offered me an opportunity to reflect on myself as well and find my motivations and what work and expenses best suited me based on my own interests and values. I now have a better understanding of myself, which will lead to better financial decisions because I will understand my motivations and true desires and I am very grateful for that.

I also, through the information we learned on career readiness skills, was able to develop myself into a strong applicant for any job I apply to. I learned the importance of diligence and professionalism exceptionally well. I am also grateful for learning how to use a variety of computer tools such as Google drive and Google sites, which really improved my computer literacy.

I am very grateful to have made strong connections with local businesses through my internship and learn the inner-workings of business. I really had no idea how a business worked before participating in this program. I now know what it takes to be successful in the business world, such as strong organization, professional and friendly interaction, as well as diligent work. This understanding is all because of the experience I gained at the Sausalito Chamber of Commerce.

I am very glad I participated in this program. I will never forget the lessons I learned from it.

  1. Going into my internship, I too really had no clue how business worked. Our internships both gave us opportunities to see how things operate and what it takes to succeed in the business world. You clearly learned a lot.
